It was the late 70s, I was about to buy my first camera, and was testing for 'fondle factor' every s.l.r. I could find... then one day, I looked through the finder of an OM1. It blew me away! What a revelation...
By happenstance I ended up with a different camera. Now recently with a couple of friends I did the 'Maitani Day'
shoot, with a new-to-me dinky little TRIP35... untested, bare-bones, just some tape to block possible light leaks where the ancient foam was perished by the back hinge. Happy day - prints are in - and I am amazed! Fantastic camera... and so sweet and simple... thanks to the likes of Mr. Maitani I have so much in life yet to learn.

Aprox size of GRD 2 (GRD 1 is the same) 115mm 58mm by 25mm with lens retracted. Fantastic build quality and about the best manual controls (Twin wheel) of any camera inc DSLRs I have seen or used. There is loads of GRD stuff on the web as they are a very popular street canera. The WA conversion lens (Giving 21mm) is a must buy with the GRD there is no loss of quality at all when using it and the FOV on such a small camera is fantastic for intimate street shots.

Hi Rob, thanks for visiting.
I know you're a GRD user. I wonder are those similar in size as their film predecessor?

Nice article. I feel the same away about the Ricoh GRD 1 and 2. Somebody wrote about the GRD 'A razor blade in a world of Swiss army knives" which I think sums it up nicely.

Nice work, Will, an easy and accurate read. I do very little street but enjoy it when I have an opportunity.

Thank You for your thoughtful effort. I am waiting for my first non-fixed lens RF. I looked hard at the much adored m-2's, read the testaments of the Besser-lovers. My purchase was how ever a Canon VI-T. The seller also threw in a 50/2,8, I hope it all equals my expectations. Being a hobby on a shoestring it's the best I could afford. I'm tempted to only use B&W film. I suppose I could always change it later but sticking to the B&W would force me, I believe, to learn to "see" in B&W thrush helping to improve my technique. I look forward to reading your future posts. RED R.
