Frequently Asked Questions

What is Zuikography?

Zuikography is a digital archive and tribute to the Olympus OM film system — the cameras, lenses, film stocks, and stories behind one of the most iconic 35mm setups ever made. It’s part reference, part personal project, part love letter to a system that still deserves attention.

Who runs the site?

Just one person — a film photographer, lifelong OM shooter, and archive obsessive. The site is built with care, not a team of content marketers.

If you’ve ever wondered why I still shoot film, read my credo: By the Light I Left Behind.

Why Olympus OM?

Because the OM system was brilliant.
Compact, mechanical, beautifully built — it did more with less. Olympus and Maitani didn’t just design cameras; they made tools with personality. This site exists to preserve that legacy and pass it on to the next generation of shooters.

Can I contribute?

Yes. If you shoot OM gear or have something valuable to share — a lens test, a personal story, your OM setup, or a forgotten brochure in your attic — we’d love to feature it. Click here for details.

Do you accept guest posts?

Only if they’re aligned with the site’s purpose. No AI spam, no gear-hype listicles, and definitely no affiliate junk disguised as articles. This is a curated archive, not a content farm.

Are you affiliated with Olympus?

Nope. This is a fan project — run independently, with no ties to Olympus or OM Digital Solutions. Everything here is built from personal use, research, and community contributions.

What gear do you personally use?

Primarily the OM-1, OM-2N, and XA3, with a small selection of Zuiko primes — 28mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/3.5 macro and 100mm f/2.8. Others lenses I’ve owned include the 85mm f/2, 135mm f3.5 and 200mm f/4. Film stocks vary but lean toward Tri-X, Delta 3200, HP5, and a few colour options like Kodak Gold or Portra.

Can I use images from the site?

All text and photos are copyright the site owner unless otherwise credited.
If you’d like to use something, just ask via the Contact page. If it’s a scan or archival piece, we’re usually happy to share — but don’t lift content without permission.

Will there be a newsletter?

Eventually — but not right now. Once the site has more traffic and regular readers, we’ll consider a monthly update or archive roundup. For now, the focus is on building real content, not mailing lists.

Will there be merch?

Possibly down the line — prints, a calendar, or a small photo book. Nothing off-brand, no cheap t-shirts with fake slogans. If it happens, it’ll be something you’d actually want on your shelf or wall.

How can I support the site?

Easy:

  • Share it
  • Link to it if you’ve got a site or blog
  • Contribute something if you’re able
  • Or just send a message — it all helps

This is a slow-build project. Every bit of encouragement adds fuel.
